![]() ![]() With notes of Kyoto cherry blossom, plum nectar, and passion flower, No. 8 is the last in the series - the grand finale of Mori's remarkable Eau de Collection fragrances. 7 was introduced in 2012, and it's a fragrance you must experience. Their harmony with the natural world makes them special to me. These fragrances have all been produced in France from alternative energy sources, including sun and wind power. ![]() The Hanae Mori Eau de Collection series of limited-edition, numbered fragrances started with Hanae Mori No. Today I want to give you a heads up on No. I realize I just described Butterfly, not the new No. Since the debut of Butterfly, every elegant fragrance in Mori's collection has been a work of art - from the bottle to the scent. Butterfly's lasting impression is the deep warmth of rosewood, gentle almond wood, rich sandalwood, and French cedar. Its heart opens in a melange of lush Bulgarian rose, ylang-ylang, lilting jasmine, and French peony. Butterfly arrives in a jubilant flutter of wild strawberries, sweet blackberries, blackcurrant, and bilberries. It is a complex blend of florals, fruits, and woods. Mori's first scent, and her most well-known, was Butterfly, created in the 1990's. Because of my experience with and love for the prior eau de parfums in the series, I was eager to try it. I am a serial tester, and I have to try only one scent/day to keep from confusing my nose. I tested it immediately, something I don't often do. I was thrilled to receive a press sample of No. Like her distinct designs that merge Eastern and Western elements, fashion designer Hanae Mori's signature scents are exceptional. ![]() 8, which is currently a Nordstrom exclusive and will be more thorough launched in August (e.g., Neiman Marcus, Saks, and other premium stores). The latest member of Hanae Mori's Eau de Collection ($99) is No. 2 in Hanae Mori's Eau de Collection series, I was introduced to Mori's fragrances and seduced - her fragrances are thoroughly addictive. Lace.If I had to describe it in one sentence, I'd say that this perfume smells like fresh strawberries, cream, and a big cedar forest. The smell of dry woods is really intoxicating, and unlike anything I've encountered before - it gives Butterfly more of an edge, and balances out the sweeter notes. After the first hour, the woodsy undertones become more prominent - they are probably my favourite thing about this scent. There are notes of rose and ylang-ylang lingering in the background, with a hint of sweet almonds and cosy vanilla. I wouldn't even call this a fruity scent - the initial berry blast wears off quite quickly, and the scent becomes softer and more floral. I find that sometimes, fruity perfumes can smell a little synthetic and sugary, but this is not the case with Butterfly. The composition opens with a blast of juicy strawberries, which smell very fresh and not too sweet. It definitely looks more luxurious and expensive than it is, making it a lovely addition to any fragrance collection. The bottle design is simple and elegant, adorned with a cap that resembles folded butterfly wings. I'd never even heard of Hanae Mori before - it's a relatively small, Japenese fashion brand with over ten perfumes in their collection ( Butterfly being the oldest one, from 1995). She wasn't wrong! I fell in love with this fragrance so much that I went ahead and bought a full bottle almost right away ( £22, ). ![]() My affair with Butterfly began a while ago, when a dear friend sent me a sample to try, as she thought that the scent might suit me. ![]()
